The Original Countertop Install Cart: How One Corner Sink Started No Lift System
Our Story
We Carried the Stone. Then We Built a Better Way.
How a fabrication shop owner, his uncle and one corner-sink countertop started the original lift-rotate-slide install cart, and why being first still matters.
Every installer knows the moment. You're four steps up a staircase with a 3cm corner-sink top, the cutout is flexing, your grip is slipping, and the whole crew is holding its breath. Sometimes the top survives and the installer doesn't. We know, because we've been that crew.
It Started on a Jobsite, Not in a Catalog
Aaron Crowley spent about twenty years in the stone business running his own fabrication shop. His lead installer was one of the best he'd ever had. He was in his mid-thirties, skilled and loyal, and close to walking away from the trade because the daily pain had become too much.
Then came the corner-sink countertop that injured another of Aaron's installers. It was heavy and awkward, and nothing about it was easy to grip. That was the last straw.
Aaron took the problem to his uncle, Roger Crowley, who had spent about thirty years in high-end manufacturing. Roger grabbed a notepad and sketched a simple idea: lift the countertop to cabinet height, rotate it, and slide it into place. Nobody lifts it by hand.
"Company owners have a moral imperative to protect their workers and help extend their careers."
Aaron Crowley, Co-founder, No Lift System
The Story in Our Logo
That's not just any countertop.
Look closely at the No Lift System logo. The shape the installer is straining under is a corner-sink countertop, and it represents the very corner-sink top that started it all. The piece that injured one of Aaron's installers is now at the center of our brand, with a slash through the lift. Every cart we build is our answer to that moment.
Built With Installers, Tested on Real Jobs
We didn't design the cart in an office. For about two years we built prototypes, handed them to some of the best installers we knew and let them tear them apart. Every version got better because the people using it had carried stone for a living.
When it was ready, we powder-coated three carts and loaded them into Aaron's pickup. A nearby shop owner bought the first one. A shop in Salem bought the other two within two days. The next batches of five sold out too, and No Lift System was born.
The Original, and Patented
We filed our first patent application in July 2015. U.S. Patent 9,751,550 for the No-Lift Install System was granted in 2017, and three more patents followed in 2019 covering the tilting cart frame and its telescoping lift. Our cart was the first to bring the lift-rotate-slide approach to countertop installation, and industry recognition followed:
- 2018: ISFA Best New Product
- 2020: TISE Best of Innovation, Manual Tilt Cart
- 2024: TISE Best of Innovation, PowerTilt Cart
Today nearly 3,000 No Lift carts are at work in fabrication shops across North America and in 20 other countries. It all started with three carts in the back of Aaron's pickup.
Others Followed. Here's What Makes Us Different.
Over the past several years, more install carts have come on the market. We think that's good for the industry, because it means owners are taking installer safety seriously. But most of those carts come from companies whose main business is something else: slab lifters, hoists, racks or general material handling. For them, an install cart is one more item in a big catalog. For us, it's the reason the company exists.
A Cart Is Not a Dolly
Some lift equipment is really a dolly. It raises a countertop on edge against a vertical mast and leaves your crew to steady it and tip it onto the cabinets. There's no deck under the stone, so a sink cutout or a long, thin run hangs unsupported the whole way.
A No Lift cart works differently. The entire piece rides on a rotating support deck. We lift it to cabinet height, rotate the deck flat, and slide the top into place over transfer balls. The stone is supported from the truck to the cabinet, which matters most with the fragile pieces that tend to crack or injure someone.

Made for Installers, by Installers
Our team has been on both sides of the trade, as owners signing the checks and installers carrying the stone. Our Solutions Specialist, Torin Dixon, has 42 years in fabrication and installation, owned three fab and install businesses and ran No Lift carts on his own crews before joining us. When you call us, you're talking to people who have done your job.
Made in America
No Lift equipment is designed and built in Oregon. That means parts and service come from the people who build the cart, accountability comes with a real phone number, and your investment supports American manufacturing and the trades.
Five Questions to Ask Any Install Cart Maker
Whatever you buy, ask these before you write the check:
- Who designed it, and have they ever installed a countertop?
- Is installation equipment the company's core business, or one product in a catalog?
- Where is it built, and where do replacement parts come from?
- Does it handle the whole job, from truck to stairs to cabinet?
- How long has this design been proven on real jobsites?
We're proud of our answers.
Your Crew Rolls, Not Lifts
Every top that rolls instead of being carried is one less chance for an injured installer, a cracked countertop or a crew member who decides this trade isn't worth it anymore. That's the job we set out to do in Aaron's shop over a decade ago. It's why that corner-sink top still sits at the center of our logo, and it's still the job today.
